Here’s The Deal

This is my 2nd blog here on WordPress.  My first one was 52 Books in 52 Weeks called The God Project.  In my personal opinion, it was a success.  I reached my goal of 52 books in 52 weeks and learned a great deal about myself and where I was on my spiritual journey.  That blog started the first week of January 2010 and ended Dec 31, 2010.  It has only taken me 2 1/2 months to settle on this year’s blog project!   Not too bad, eh?

Weight Watchers In 52 Weeks: the name almost explains it all.  I have done Weight Watchers 3 times in my life so far, and each time I have been told it will take a  year to reach my ideal weight.  A YEAR!!!! In the past a year has seemed like an awfully long time.  I mean, if you are obese, doesn’t a year sound like a long time to get to the perfect you?  A year of eating right.  A  year of exercising.  A year of weekly weigh ins and Weight Watchers meetings.  A YEAR!!!

The longest I ever made it through a Weight Watchers program is 6 months, and yes I lost about half of my weight in 6 months.  Then I thought, “Well, hell!  I have been doing this for 6 months!  I am pretty good at what I am doing.  I look and feel fantastic!  I don’t need Weight Watchers anymore!”  Famous last words.  Eventually, the weight came back on.  The 2nd time I signed up; I lasted maybe a month when I went to a self-help seminar where I learned, “You should focus on the positive, not the negative.”  “Focus on what you DO want, not on what you DON’T want.”  Great!  I thought WW focused on what I didn’t want, and feeling all empowered, I decided to leave WW.  That time, my do-it-yourself mentality lasted less than 6 months while I was training for a marathon for Nov. 6, 2006.  Then the last time I joined, I don’t think I even lasted a month.  Seriously.

About 2 years ago, I joined a weight loss challenge.  During that time, I followed my own “eating healthy” diet.  I really did just eat healthy foods, and at the end of the challenge, I had lost 35# and won the “biggest loser” for the women.  Yay me!  Then I got involved selling Beachbody products.  I did great…until I didn’t.  Yes, there is a story there, but I would rather not waste your time with my stories!

So here I am.  Almost back at my original weight from 2 years ago.  NOT GOOD!  I had my blood pressure taken last week 140/94.  WAY TOO HIGH! My heart is doing this “funny thing” it did 2 years ago in Vegas, and it’s scaring me; even though I know they called it a “panic attack” back then.  Several years ago, I was diagnosed at pre-diabetic, and even after having my blood tested after losing 35# 2 years ago, my levels were still bad.  I don’t remember my numbers, but I’m certain they are just as bad if not worse now!   Last year, I was fresh meat for the Treasure Valley Rollergirls.  I didn’t get to even draft because of an injured knee.  I was going to go back after my knee was rehabbed, but I truly believe my weight is too hard on my knees and that kind of skating puts too much pressure on my knees (until I lose weight!)  But the straw that broke the camel’s back was last Saturday night.  My hubby and I parked our car on the 2nd level of the parking garage.  We decided to take the stairs up, and by the time I climbed those stairs, my heart was pounding and I couldn’t breathe, and I truly thought I was going to pass out.  YIKES!

So here I am.  Based on my history with Weight Watchers, my history with weight loss programs in general (and there have been several), AND my huge (in my eyes anyway) success with my 52 Books in 52 Weeks, I have decided that my approach to Weight Watchers and regaining my health will be the same approach as The God Project last year.  52 Weeks! I will take this week by week, and each week I had to read a bit every single day.  So I will take this day by day.  But I will DEFINITELY complete ALL 52 WEEKS!  This is what I am committed to!  Not a year…52 WEEKS as taken on an individual basis.

  • Weekly Weight Watchers Recipes (with pictures possibly)
  • Heath tips and info
  • My personal challenges & how I handled them
  • My weekly workout routines that I plan on switching up every week
  • Inspiration to keep going
  • And maybe even some silly videos

What would I like to accomplish in the next 52 weeks?

  • Get to a healthy 150#
  • Be able to complete 25 laps around a roller derby track in 5 minutes
  • Be able to shop in Victoria’s Secret
  • Sky Dive
  • Take a Pole Dancing class (gotta lose at least 50# for that)
  • Take a burlesque dance class and perform
  • Take a belly dancing class and perform
  • Complete a triathlon (not sure about the distance of that yet)
  • Take swimming lessons so I can DO the triathlon
  • RUN a 5K, Half Marathon and Marathon (no walking!)
  • Zip Line
  • Summit Mt. Borah
  • Complete some kind of cycling endurance race (not sure about that one just yet)

I do not know if I will be able to complete all of these in 52 weeks…like Mt. Borah.  That may require waiting until NEXT summer to do it; not sure I will be in shape to do it this year.  We shall see.  I love to hike; so it will be fun to see where I go with this!

I am excited about my new adventure!

Thanks for reading and feel free to join me on this grand adventure!
